There have been a lot of speculations concerning wind energy and the means that it operates by. Many people are interested to know how wind energy is stored, where it can later be utilized by people that need it. Really this is an interesting question, seeing as if what if the wind were not blowing on a particular day your house or business would be forced to go without power which can be extremely detrimental to anyone. Well when wind energy began it was simply fed straight to the source where it was supposed to go. But since the wind energy machines that were out only converted energy when the wind was blowing many people began to give the wind energy companies a bad name and proclaimed that they would never be able to replace the means by how we get our energy primarily. Well a lot of different changes have since taken place when wind energy first started showing its face on the market. There are presently three different means that this wind energy can be stored they are through batteries, compressed air as well as hydrogen. You are probably still pondering the question of how is wind energy stored with these three components. Well, the batteries are actually put into the wind turbines. The electricity that is generated from the turbines is more than enough to be able to charge the batteries that lie within them. The charged batteries will be able to hold the electricity and then be able to disperse it to the proper location where it needs to be. Compressed air is the other form of how wind energy is stored; this process is actually referred to as compressed air energy storage. Energy that is generated by the turbines gets converted into this form of compressed air. This air is then stored in large tanks that set above the ground. The air will be able to generate enough electricity when there is a low breeze or no breeze at all to turn the turbines. The last way is through hydrogen fuel cells. There is a small company in Norway that has actually found that they can store the energy through the means of hydrogen fuel. The electricity from the wind goes into a power plant and then at the plant is utilized to split water into oxygen as well as hydrogen. Since we all know that water is made up of oxygen and hydrogen often times referred to as H20. The hydrogen is then taken and stored so when the energy demands are high it can begin doing its job. Wind energy can then be released still and of course everyone will still be happy.
